WebI could coax the dice to settle with any face up, and when spun, I did not observe the same side up (or axis vertical) consistently. However, geometric analysis (above) on the same dice does correlate strongly with observed roll frequencies. So using calipers seems to be a better predictor of unfair die behavior than the saltwater float test.
